Though the frigid wind tore into his skin, Antonin never flinched as he walked the crooked path to the inn. Pain was fleeting, nothing more than an electrical impulse of weakness. Master did not tolerate weakness. He had made that undeniably clear when He had ordered the exile. Antonin would make sure his Master knew just how much he appreciated His mercy. No more mistakes. No more weakness. His long brown coat flapped in the breeze as his feet carried him quickly to his destination. So many years, so much waiting, and now he had found who he was looking for.
As he entered the inn, Antonin was reminded of Knockturn Alley. The first floor was obviously in use as a tavern and the smell of alcohol mixed unpleasantly with the sounds of the drunken crowd. Antonin stood on the threshold for a moment, scanning the bodies of the women and, more importantly, the faces of the men. He's here his mind asserted without a doubt. Yet exactly where he was, Antonin had no way of knowing. The only thing he could be sure of was that this was the man's unofficial office, his headquarters. Everyone he had spoken to had all agreed on the same thing through their screams, this was the place.
In a sudden flash, his search was interrupted as a curse flew past his head. Antonin's thoughts flew to the Prewett boy for a moment, irrationally thinking he must be nearby. Then he regained his focus and found the source of the attack. A drunk patron was laughing uncontrollably, his wand hanging from his left hand. Antonin moved quickly, all eyes on him, and grabbed the man's hand, breaking his wrist with a savage snap. The wand fell to the ground as bones protruded from the man's torn skin. The Dark Lord might show mercy, but He certainly expected His followers to give none. Antonin drew a dagger from his cloak and pushed it into the man's eye. His screams shook the bar as he slunk to the ground. Antonin drew the knife out and took the man's other eye. Then his boot came swiftly down on the drunk's head. The man stopped screaming. Another kick. He stopped moving. One more. He stopped breathing.
Antonin took advantage of the silence and the fact that everyone's attention was now firmly on him. "I'm looking for Ivan." he said as he replaced the dagger in his cloak "Where is he?"
No one moved. No one spoke. After a moment, someone stood up. The moment Antonin saw him, he knew. The man motioned to a chair across from his and sat back down. Antonin walked to the table. "Hello, father." he said quietly.
Ivan Dolohov smiled. "Hello, Antonin. It has been far too long."
"It certainly has, father." Antonin did not return the smile. He simply stared into the eyes that he so clearly remembered.
"I have heard of your activities, my son. And I must admit that I am disappointed." Ivan's smile was replaced with an unhappy look.
Antonin poured himself a drink, sipping it slowly. He said nothing in response.
"You follow a mad man who has half the wizarding world hunting him."
"My Lord will reward his followers for seeing the truth when no one else was brave enough to. But I haven't come here to speak of myself father. I've come to give you a chance."
"A chance, Antonin? A chance to do what?"
"A chance to beg for your life before I kill you."
Ivan's face was blank with shock. He laughed uncertainly before he faltered again. "Kill me?" he asked quietly, "what are you talking about, Antonin?"
Antonin ignored the question. "Is this the last place mother saw before she died? This room?"
And now fear entered Ivan's eyes. Desperation wove into every word. "N-now son, I can explain. Don't do anything you'll regret because of a woman who never loved you."
Antonin's dark eyes met those of his father. Once so ruthless. Now filled with fear. It was sad. Disgusting.
"I'm not doing anything for her." Antonin said as he smiled. "And why would I possibly regret it?"
Ivan shouted and three men ran toward Antonin. "Thugs, father?" he asked as he turned to meet them. He broke his chair over the first, punched the second, and threw the third through the table. His wand was out in the next moment as two more men came at him. Both fell with a quiet groan as green light engulfed the room. Through it all, Ivan sat shaking in fear, unable to move from his chair. He looked at his son, shaking his head.
"Please no. Please."
Antonin pocketed his wand, walking toward the shaking man that fathered him. "Did I ever say no when you beat me, father? Did I ever beg? Of course not," his hand came to rest on Ivan's shoulder as he stood behind him. "You taught me better."
Ivan turned to look at him. "Why?"
"Why, father?" Antonin's hands closed around his neck, squeezing with increasing force as Ivan tore at them. He bent low, close to the man's ear as his movements became slower, weaker.
"Because I want to."
And as he watched, the light left Ivan's eyes. Antonin held his grip, staring into the dead face as his left forearm seared suddenly with pain. The mark burned savagely. Antonin let the body fall to the ground as he walked toward the door, removing his wand once more. The door swung closed behind him as, with a flick of his wrist, an explosion rocked the inn.
His exile was over and although a multitude of thoughts moved through his mind, one person stood out among all others. Fabian Prewett.

Lili sat motionlessly in the twilight. The slight chill in the air told her that fall was approaching but even as the wind curled around her thin frame she kept her place. The passing weeks had been more than unbearable without Antonin by her side. Still, she had managed to keep herself busy through various extracurricular activities that included a small battalion of Inferi for her Master, most of which she had to create herself and several new pacts with the werewolves.
Tonight was a night just like any other, she was hunting and had been for quite some time since the sun had set. Sitting idly in her home was never one of her strong suits and Lili also found that with each passing night her anger and restlessness grew more and more intense. Nothing satiated her, nothing calmed the rage inside of her. Her victim tonight was an older man, a gentleman who liked to take part in life's debauchery and frivolities.
He stumbled past her without ever noticing her livid green eyes flitting over his frame, taking it all in as the many different ways to kill him crossed her mind. He wreaked of alcohol and sweat and even worse for him, he was a muggle. Lili laughed to herself quietly as she took a deep breath and held it for a moment. The blood pounded in her ears as she advanced on the man ever so slowly, stalking him, finally she made her move.
With the reflexes of any skilled hunter from inside her cloak she pulled out a knife and in the blink of an eye put one hand on his shoulder while driving the knife into his spinal cord, snapping it in half.
"Oh look...'ead on a steeck," Lili whispered as the man let out an awful gurgling sound as he fell to the ground. He wasn't dead, yet, but when she snapped his spinal cord she rendered him immobile in all four limbs. She tilted her head to the side to look at his face before moving away from him a bit to sit on a tree stump to watch him die.
"You should be more careful monsieur...You drink too much and you will lose your 'ead." As she made herself comfortable she reclined a bit, pulling one leg up under her to rest her chin on it. The black pool of blood that was seeping from the gaping wound in the man's back shone like onyx in the moonlight. Lili shivered slightly with the kind of excitement that only watching someone die a slow painful death could give her.
"Please...Don't...Don't kill me..." The man was begging, it was pathetic really. A grown man begging for his life. She never begged, well, with the exception of when she was being tortured to the most excruciating level of pain she'd ever experienced by her Master for her failures which led her to her present state. It was a night that she would never forget for the rest of her life. When she thought about it her stomach still recoiled in horror as she relived the feeling of her bones splintering and blood boiling to the point where she felt as though her heart would burst.
Lili had no idea how long she sat there watching, waiting, lost somewhere in the dark pit of hell that she called her mind but by the time she came back to reality the man had long since died. With a soft smile on her face that said nothing but destruction she whispered a simple word: "Master..."
The tiny island stood like a sentinel in the surrounding lake as darkness pressed in from all sides. It any light existed in the cave, it was hiding from the man standing on the island. Lord Voldemort's eyes were closed, his every sense concentrated on the darkness. He heard it whispering to him. He felt it touch him. And he heard their voices, their shaking, terrified voices.
W-w-what's happening?? Why is it so dark? He laughed in the darkness, just as he had all those years ago. Stop it, Tom! He sneered as the memory of that name came to him. It hurts! He heard their sobbing, their screams of pain. And still he laughed. Ow! ow! Stop it, Tom! Please stop! But he hadn't stopped. He never stopped. Even after they ran from the cave, screaming and crying as they went, he did not stop. He visited them in the night, as they slept, and made them hurt.
The cries died away as he opened his eyes, looking down on the stone basin. Here is where it would lie, his next step on the path to immortality. And then a whisper came to his ears from far away. He spoke in the darkness, identifying the speaker as her face swam into focus. "Liliana." The name brought another to his mind: his exiled servant Antonin. Lord Voldemort rolled up his sleeve and spoke Antonin's name, pressing a long white finger to his left forearm.
Why is it so dark? the child's question echoed again. And the Dark Lord turned on the spot.
He appeared in front of his servant, a dying man struggling nearby.

Lili nearly fell off the tree stump that she was sitting on when her Master appeared in front of her. With less grace than she would have liked she jumped down from the tree stump and knelt down before Him in respect.
"Forgive me Master, I did not expect you to 'ear me speak. I 'ave added anuzzer Inferi to your growing collection. One of the dregs of polite society, no family to come calling, no one to miss 'im. Forgive me for being so forward but I wondered if..." Lili stopped mid sentence. She couldn't bring herself to ask the Dark Lord like some pathetic child if He had heard from Antonin. She bit her tongue until she could taste the familiar iron of blood and rose to her feet.
"Forgive me Master, I 'ave not been in my right mind for some time. Ze Ministry 'as taken new precautions, zose of us working in more public sectors must meet wiz ze Minister almost on a daily basis. Zere are rumors zat zey want to kill all ze half breeds and sub divisions to keep zem from joining us. I'm doing what I can to make sure zat does not 'appen. I know 'ow important ze creatures are to ze cause."
The Dark Lord watched with pleasure as Liliana hastened to kneel. She knew her place. That was a very good thing. He listened to the words she spoke and he heard those that she didn't. Antonin was on her mind. She tried to hide it; tried to bite back the question she so yearned to ask. Yet Lord Voldemort heard all. He knew all. Such was His power.
"Your Master is pleased with the progress you have made on your assignment. The army you are gathering for me has a great purpose."
The dying man flapped feebly, life still left in him. Lord Voldemort flicked his wand, swatting the pest out of existence. He moved no more.
"You will do your best to prevent the Ministry from targeting our allies, but I am well away that you will fail. You can only delay that which is inevitable. The Ministry will hunt them. And we will hunt the Ministry. Their aurors can stamp out as many beasts as possible. Yet your Lord remains above them all. Comfort yourself with that knowledge."
The Dark Lord brought his eyes to Liliana's, searching them as he continued to speak. "I am far more concerned with other matters, Liliana." Silky danger crept into his voice and anyone watching would have sworn that in that moment a red glint consumed his eyes.
"Fabian Prewett. Has he given any indication that he recognized you?" He paused for a moment before continuing. He spoke quietly
"And then there is the matter which you try to hide from your Master."

In an instant the painful memories of the night in which Antonin was sent away came flooding back to Lili. It wasn't the pain of hearing that her lover had been sent away it was the excruciating torture to which she had been subjected that weighed most heavily on her mind.
"I 'ave avoided ze Aurors at all costs in my daily routine Master. I 'ave been on assignment out of ze Ministry so much zat I 'ave not seen 'im at all and I intend to keep eet zat way. I volunteer for field work as much as possible so zere eez no chance of me running into 'im wizzin ze 'alls of ze Ministry," Lili swallowed hard, she was a fool to think for a moment that the Dark Lord would not catch on to what was on her mind. He knew everything and she was not exactly that hard to read, to most it would seem as though Liliana Delphine was a blank, emotionless tombstone of a woman. However, to the Dark Lord there was no hiding, her emotions played out like a movie before Him, she couldn't hide her fear, her anxiety, her frustration, but when her life could be snuffed out in the blink of an eye before she ever had a chance to explain herself she hoped that above all He saw the determination she had over everything else to be a loyal Death Eater and to do whatever it took to remain at His side...alive.
"Je suis desolais Master. I know zat I cannot hide anyting from You and only a fool would lie to 'erself and tink zat she could get away wiz eet. I...I do miss 'im...But I 'ave more important work to do and as long as I stay focused on zat zen I cannot fail You which eez ze more important ting. If You so wished to tell me if You 'ad 'eard from Antonin zen You would but Your silence on ze matter eez absolute. Forgive my weakness Master, eet will not 'appen again, I will continue my work wiz ze werewolves and collecting Inferi until told uzzerwise and I will continue to remain out of sight and in immaculate standings at ze Ministry so as to not arouse suspicion on myself for as long as possible. Grimwood still remains on ze top of ze "aim to kill" list, zey are afraid to go after Greyback and if my information eez accurate zen Dria should be safe for now because she 'asn't been too far from 'im for some time now."
Lili finally stopped speaking and took a deep breath. She was visibly nervous and with good reason. The thought of angering her Master was one thing to be worried about but when His mood could shift faster than the passing of a split moment there was her life to be concerned about. She nodded her head respectfully and lowered her eyes to the ground and awaited whatever was to come next.

Lord Voldemort listened with an impassive face, taking in the information Lili had gathered. He could taste the fear coming from his servant. Wave after wave whispered through his mind, bringing a slow curve to his lips.
"You have done well, Liliana." He spoke softly, his voice filled with silky pleasure. "You have made your Lord proud with this show of discipline. I believe you are learning well. You will continue to ensure that Prewett does not recognize you. As for your other personal concerns..." he paused for a moment, stepping slowly toward the prostrate woman.
"Lord Voldemort rewards those who prove their worth. I have recalled Antonin from exile. He will return shortly." His hand came to rest on her head and he tilted her chin slowly until their eyes met.
"Do not make the mistake of letting his return make you forget the lessons you have learned. You serve none but me." The words left his lips, laced now with deadly intent, and the eyes of Death flashed red.

Liliana pressed her face into the hand of her Master, the same hand that could just as easily take her in life in an instant. She was relieved slightly that He was pleased with her work. It had been a long and dangerous process to get back into any kind of graceful standing with Him and she was determined to do anything to uphold it.
Feelings for Antonin would have to be put in check. He had made it clear the night he left that it was a dangerous game that they were playing. Liliana didn't love, she couldn't love, not anyone but her Master anyway.
"I have not forgotten ze lesson you 'ave taught me Master. I will not let Antonin's return distort my vision of ze main objective, Your objective. I do not wear 'is mark on my skin wiz pride, I wear Yours and only Yours. And I tank You for bringing 'im back from exile alzough I am sure You did not do eet for me alone and I would not delude myself to tink zat eet would be."
"You have learned your place, Liliana, and that pleases your Lord very much." The danger left his voice. The woman in front of him had shown proper restraint and respect for her Lord. At least for the moment, she would be spared any pain. The Dark Lord was merciful. Oh yes, merciful indeed.
"As of this moment collecting Inferi will cease to be your main priority. You will instead focus on your work at the Ministry. Gather as much information as you can on the activities of the Aurors, particularly any that seem prone to contract Dumbledore's pathetic notions of valor."
Lord Voldemort turned from the woman, walking past the corpse of her latest victim. Without another word, he turned on the spot and disappeared into the shadows.

The moonlight fell upon Lili's face illuminating her porcelain skin and deadly eyes. They sparkled brightly when she had heard her new assignment. She knew exactly who she gather information on, Raven Blackthorn, that nosy little bitch, and her friends, the other Prewett always seemed to be with her. There was no doubt that they were both part of Dumbledore's group of self righteous little twits. The thought of being able to torture Blackthorn was almost more than she could stand.
Lazily she waved her wand over the corpse separating spirit from body looking in the direction of but not really seeing them as they both disappeared to their designated locations. Then she turned and with a soft swish of her cloak she become enveloped in the darkness of the forest that now surrounded her. She walked slowly and gracefully as if she was a forest goddess gliding over the path. Her movements made no sound and her heeled boots left no impression in the damp earth.
Nothing could touch her it seemed. At least not in that moment. She felt like the world was right once again, assured of her status by her Master's side by making him proud and pleased and thrilled to know that soon her favorite torturing companion would soon be returning. The wind around her whipped up in a frenzy sending multicolored leaves flying all about her as she walked. Up the path through the woods she could see the outline of her mansion set against the black velvet of the night sky.

Intense pressure. All senses screaming for relief. And then Antonin Dolohov apparated into the woods just outside Delphine Mansion. He crouched low to the ground, his wand pointing in all directions. No one would yet know he was back, unless of course they had followed him home. But no one had made it out of that inn, of that he was nearly positive. As he drew closer to the mansion, his lips and mind moved furiously. His words allowed him to penetrate the protective measures that protected the house from would be spys and aurors.
His mind focused on other matters. The Prewett boy would be at the top of his priorities. His Master would likely grant him leave to hunt the worthless filth. Antonin would make an example of him. Such was the power of the Dark Lord. His word was law. And Antonin so very much enjoyed being His justice.
With the spells, curses and charms undone, Antonin entered the mansion, throwing the doors open. "Hunny," he called at the top of his lungs, "I'm home."

Lili appeared at the top of the stairs with her wand in one hand and a rather vicious looking sword in the other. She had been just inside her room having arrived home a few minutes prior. When her dark green eyes fell on Antonin they lit up becoming a jade color almost and she dropped the sword before running down the stairs.
Lili threw her arms around his neck and jumped up onto him forgetting any kind of grace of sense of composure she had about her. She had missed him far more than she had even admitted to herself. There were no words to express how she felt in that moment as she hugged him. Lili pulled back just enough and let go of him setting both of her feet back on the floor. Her eyes found his and she couldn't help but smile because Antonin was back.
Before he had a chance to say anything else she stood up on her toes and kissed him, lingering there for a moment to make sure that it was really happening. As she pulled away slowly she bit his lip a little and then finally found the words to speak.

Antonin drew his tongue across his lips, savoring the taste of hers as she spoke.
"Oh I did. My father." He said quietly, with a dismissive gesture. "And then I cut his throat." The old man's last words came back to him.
"Why?" And his own in response "Why father? Because I want to."
"He was easy to find and even easier to kill. More importantly, I found what I had forgotten. Our Lord will be pleased with me, because I have again become the man he needs me to be." He stroked her cheek softly. "Tell me what I've missed."

"I'm glad you found what you lost, I'm sure I'll find ze new and improved Antonin to be even more ruthless and charming as ze old one? As long as zere eez still room for me in your darkened mind. You 'aven't missed much 'ere," she replied as she glided soundlessly across the floor to another parlor, one that was much more cozy but only lit by a fireplace and a few candles indicating that Antonin should follow her.
"I did as I was told and managed to once again make 'Im 'appy wiz me. And I 'ad time to tink....About a lot of tings, especially you and I." Lili's voice was soft and gentle, a characteristic it hardly ever possessed. But still there she stood looking to Antonin hoping that he would say what she wanted to hear but never thinking that he would. She didn't want to complicate things with more feelings but she had to know just how he felt about her so she could adjust her own accordingly.
Re: Bulgaria « Reply #14 on Jan 28, 2008, 11:59pm »
Antonin sat in the parlor, the light of the fire dancing on his face. As Liliana spoke he stared into the flame. Remember who you are, Antonin. This woman should mean nothing to you.
And yet the truth was that Lili did matter. Antonin had thought of her often while he was away. He enjoyed her. Her presence and her body pleased him more than any other. He imagined that he would feel pain if she did. And that shook him to the core.
For the slightest moment the dark eyes, which had watched joyfully while others closed, changed, became almost human.
His mind reasserted itself. There is no room for love in your mind or heart. And those eyes again became soulless as he turned to look at her.

Lili looked away from Antonin's cold and unforgiving eyes. Where others she could read so easily to tell if they were putting up a front he was blank and cold. She bit her bottom lip, fighting with herself about what she was going to do. The mantra over and over repeating in her brain that she did not, could not, and would not love him. There no love for Death Eaters. Marriages were something of convenience because it was just easier that way.
"I...I 'ave feelings for you. Strong feelings. I care about you Antonin a lot. I missed you when you were away, a lot. But I also know zat our Master comes first and above all else we must serve 'Im regardless of what 'appens. I couldn't imagine being wiz anuzzer man after you and I feel stupid for even bringing eet up. Feelings only complicate tings, make zem 'arder zan zey should be. Maybe eets just because I am a girl. I'm sorry I even mentioned eet, I know you could never care about me like zat."
Re: Bulgaria « Reply #16 on Jan 29, 2008, 7:09pm »
And for the second time in one night, Antonin Dolohov felt his strength waver. The man who so many feared, who was hunted and reviled throughout the magical world, who had ended so many lives without so much as a moment's hesitation found himself momentarily powerless in front of this woman. Something entirely new, entirely unknown, and entirely contradictory to himself was happening. Though he had ignored it for months, he could no longer deny that no one else had ever had such an effect on him.
A tiny voice spoke in his mind, child-like and innocent. "Tell her." It was the voice of a young boy, lost decades ago in the violent raging of a father. "Love."
Antonin squeezed his eyes shut, trying to block out the alien voice, when another replied. "How can you speak of love? You should cut your own weak tongue from your filthy mouth for ever even thinking about that foolish emotion." It was a dark voice, angry and threatening. The evil in it was deep and inseparable from the rest.
The child's voice responded. "It isn't weak. It's human.
"Human?" mocked the other. "To be human is to be weak. You speak as though you have a proper understanding of strength. You're pathetic. That's why you could never survive."
And now the tiny voice wavered, losing it's strength against an opponent which had been unchallenged for so long.
"That's not true...."
"Love never did anything for you, fool. It never kept you alive. It never kept you safe while you were being beaten down. And it will never keep you strong. There is no place for love in your world. You are a monster, Antonin."
Antonin grimaced, his eyes still closed, as the internal battle reached it's conclusion. The tiny voice faded away once again and he opened his eyes, focused and clear. He turned to Liliana, emotionless and cold.
"This is foolishness, Liliana. Our Master has made it clear that he disapproves of the way we have acted in the past. To speak of this is to forget our place by his side. We are soldiers. We are not children who delude ourselves with thoughts of meaningless emotions. And we should not act as such. You must understand who I am, Liliana. I feel nothing. I care for nothing."

Lili's breath caught in her throat and a tiny gasp escaped from her thin lips. She didn't know what to say in that moment. Her eyes teared up and she had to look away from him, she refused to let him see her cry. Lili made up her mind in that moment that if he was going to be cold and ruthless then she should be as well. But she couldn't bring herself to speak just yet. Instead she rose from her chair and walked to the window trying to gather as much strength from the darkness of the night as possible.
The wind howled outside like an angry beast and in that precise moment a violent roll of thunder and a crack of lightning shook the very foundation of the house. Even though the sound was loud it seemed so far off to Lili, she felt hollow and cold and most importantly she felt souless. Antonin was the only thing in her life that made her feel even remotely human anymore and he had decided that it was best to rip out what was left of her heart and turn it to dust in his hand.
She took a breath to calm herself but it didn't help. Finally she turned back to Antonin, her eyes were guarded by her dark hair but there was no mistaking that they were a dark, deadly green color. Lili was gone. Liliana remained behind, there was no more room for formalities, no feelings, nothing. Her face was blank and even though her voice shook she tried as hard as she could to become to the woman she once was. It was pointless to try to rationalize the situation and so she didn't.
"Do you want me to keep ze back door unlocked zen so you can just come and go as you please and fuck me like some common whore? Or would you prefer to leave now and forget zat we ever met each uzzer? I understand 'oo you are perfectly Monsieur Dolo'ov, you're a co-worker of mine. We 'appen to believe in ze same tings and zat apparently is all we 'ave in common. And for your information Monsieur Dolo'ov...What I felt for you wasn't meaningless to me but I'm glad to know where I stand in your eyes...I might as well be a mudblood because zat is exactly 'ow little you care."
Liliana's entire body was visibly shaking and her voice had risen to almost a shout and when she finished yelling at him she turned back away muttering incoherently in French about men and their fleeting emotions. She wiped a tear from her cheek and cursed herself for letting herself fall so hard for him in the first place.
"Je suis tres desolais. I am sorry zat I let myself fall in love wiz you because obviously you never felt ze same way about me. And I'm sorry zat I apparently lied to myself and convinced myself zat you were worth ze danger zat I put myself in to love you! You 'ave no idea 'ow 'ard eet was for me to let you in in ze first place! I 'ad to work very 'ard to not feel anyting, I worked on eet for years and zen all of a sudden you come sweeping into my life one night and you were able to break through EVERYTING ZAT I 'AD WORKED SO 'ARD TO MAINTAIN! So please Monsieur Dolo'ov, forgive me for wanting to feel someting for ze first time since I was a leetle girl." The words came out in a torrent of venomous rage. Liliana was seething, her hand gripped her wand tightly almost breaking it in half with her delicate hand. The same hand that had taken the life of so many and would take so many more to come. Her eyes bore holes into him as she shook on the spot. She wanted to hit him, to curse him, to hurt him, to make him feel something instead of staring at her with those cold, expressionless eyes.

Antonin remained motionless as Liliana raged at him. In that moment it seemed as though this was his fate, to stand here for eternity while the woman he....NO...while this woman spit venom. A never ending hell, worse than the one he had left so many years ago. He caught every word, determined to remember it all.
This is the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. He thought as the words "fell in love with you" entered his ear.
No it isn't. She means nothing! NOTHING! She is 'just a common whore.' The harsh, dark voice immediately responded.
No she isn't. I love her. And I've never loved anyone.
Nonsense! This is...
"STOP!" The word broke from his lips in his native Bulgarian just as Liliana finished speaking. He looked at her, his eyes no longer dead. As a tear rolled down her cheek, Antonin stepped toward her, taking her face quickly in his hands and kissing her before she had a chance to resist. Without a word he turned away, blasting the door out of his way as he left the mansion and walked out into the cold, unforgiving night.

A horrific scream erupted from Liliana shattering the mirror that was at the far end of the room. Antonin's kiss burned on her lips, what did it mean? Were they to be no more? She tried to push it out of her mind as she walked up the stairs to her room, the same room she had shared with Antonin so many times. The very air of the mansion crackled with electricity but was silent until she slammed the door to her bedroom and threw herself onto her bed and began to cry.
Liliana Elyse Delphine was broken...Broken by a man who she thought she could love.
