Ground Floor Upon entering the main entrance of Hogwarts Castle, one gets a pretty good idea of just how big Hogwarts really is. The grand staircase can be found along the far wall in the corner, and continues on for what seems like ages. If one were to look up they would see many sets of staircases leading to different areas. But be careful...The staircases like to change on people. On either side of the main doors there are two large hourglasses filled with different colored jewels according to which house is represented in the hourglass. Red rubies for Gryffindor, Canary Diamonds for Hufflepuff, Emeralds for Slytherin, and Saphires for Ravenclaw. These stones count out how many house points each house has. On the right side of the entrance, passed the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff hourglasses is the entrance to the Great Hall. On the left side of the main entrance, passed the Slytherin and Ravenclaw hourglasses is the staircase leading down into the dungeons.

The Great Hall The entrance to the Great Hall is located on the right side of the main entrace of Hogwarts if you are coming from outside, however it is on your left if you are coming from down the stairs. Inside the Great Hall there are five long tables, the four in the center of the room are the house tables, from the left side of the room the tables are Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and then on the far right is Slytherin. The table at the head of the Great Hall and raised up on platform is the Staff Table where the teachers sit during meal times. The ceiling of the Great Hall is quite interesting, it is bewitched to like the night sky. The Great Hall can take on many forms and decorations, during Christmas it has giant Christmas trees, fairies, huge wreathes of holly and other decorations, during Halloween there are live bats, floating pumpkins, skeletons, etc. At the end of each year at the farewell feast, whichever house has the most house points and has won the house cup enjoys their meal much more than the other houses who have to suffer through eating under the colors and banner of the winning house. The Great Hall is also the site of apparating lessons, dueling clubs, the Yule Ball, and other events such as that.
First Floor On the first landing of the stair case there is a door that leads to the first floor. On this floor there are the Muggle Studies Classroom, the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom, the History of Magic Classroom, and Professor McGonagall's office. Paintings and suits of armor guard the hallways of the first floor and are happy to point out the direction of a classroom to a lost first year student.

Second Floor While there are no classes on this floor, the second floor does play host to one of the most important places in Hogwarts. Amid the empty classrooms and the office of the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor there is a seemingly empty corridor with a stone gargoyle in it. This gargoyle guards the entrance to Professor Dumbledore's office in one of the towers.
Third Floor The third floor is most widely recognized for the Forbidden Corridor, which no one really knows why it is forbidden, just that it's forbidden. With winding corridors leading to empty classrooms, the hospital wing, the charms corridor, and other corridors leading to the armor gallery and trophy room, the third floor is usually a pretty empty place with the exception of the Charms corridor and the Hospital Wing if it's getting close to Quidditch House Cup time.

The Armor Gallery Adjacent and to the left of the Trophy Room, the Armor Gallery is a long hall like room filled with old suits of armor. This is another one of Peeves' favorite place to play and annoy the caretaker Apollyon Pringle by knocking over the suits of armor and creating a loud ruckus.

The Hospital Wing The Hospital Wing is a testimony that rooms move and change over time in Hogwarts. Originally located on the first floor the Hospital Wing is now located on the third floor but nothing inside it has changed much. The entrance is sealed by large double Oak doors that swing out and the half circle room with long straight walls is lined with beds with white sheets and privacy screens. The far wall is made of windows over looking the grounds. There is a single door in this room and that leads to Madam Pomfrey's stores of medicinal potions, her office, and her living quarters. It is best not to upset or excite any of the patients here under Madam Pomfrey's watchful eye, she's not shy about throwing people out of the hospital wing.

The Trophy Room The Trophy Room, located on the third floor across the way from the Forbidden Corridor and the Charms Corridor but adjacent to the amor gallery, this is Peeves' favorite playground. The long room is home to all of the trophies won by Hogwarts, Hogwarts staff, and Hogwarts Students. Cups, plaques, ribbons, medals, plates, and all the other awards are kept here in crystal display cases. The House Cups, Quidditch Cups and a full list of the head boys and girls are also kept here.

Fourth Floor The Fourth Floor does not differ much from the other floors in Hogwarts except this one sees an alarming number of Ravenclaws at all times of the day. The Library is located down the hall and around the corner to the right. If you go in the other direction, past a gathering of paintings and suits of armor you will find the Arithmancy Classroom and the Professor Vector's office.

The Library The Library is home to tens of thousands of books including a wide selection in the restricted area, which is roped off near the Librarian, Madam Pince's desk. Amid the winding book cases that are at least 8 shelves high there are small open areas where students can sit to do research and other homework for their classes. It's best to keep your voice down and whatever you do, don't bring anything to drink or eat to the Library especially chocolate. Madam Pince will throw you out without thinking twice.

Prefects' Bathroom The fourth door to the left passed the Statue of Boris the Bewildered is the door that leads to the Prefects Bathroom. The inside of the bathroom is beautiful. There is a large pool in the center of the white marble walls, floors, and sink basins. This is the tub that fills quite fast and there over a hundred taps that spew out crystal clear water and various bubble bath potions. There is also a painting of a mermaid lounging on a rock who likes to flirt and flounce for the male prefects that hangs on the wall near the tub. The password is pine fresh. But only prefects are allowed to be in this room.

Fifth Floor The fifth floor houses mostly empty classrooms, paintings, and statues. However, there is the Prefects Bathroom to the left of the statue of Boris the Bewildered up a few steps and down the west wing. And there is also the Ancient Runes Classroom which is in the opposite direction in the southern wing between a painting of some monks and another of Agrippa.

Abandoned Commons As the name suggests, the Abandoned Commons are just that, Abandoned. It is unclear which House, if any used to reside in this area that is still guarded by the suits of armor in the northern corridor just past a large mirror with the Hogwarts crest wrought into the silver frame. If one challenges the suits of armor to a fight and then pulls the arm of the suit on the left, a door will appear in the empty area and they can proceed inside. Once inside, the door will again disappear on the outside but not from the inside. The first room is what looks like used to be the common room, there are empty dusty painting frames on the walls, a cold, long unused stone fireplace, dusty velvet black couches and arm chairs all to the right of the entrance. To the left there is an old table with a few chairs around it still and a cob web covered bookshelf. Passed this bookshelf is a staircase that winds up to two separate dormitories, the spells that usually prevent boys from entering a girls dorm are no longer in effect here so anyone who is wandering about can come and go freely from room to room. Most of the dormitories are covered with inches of dust, the beds, hangings and other furniture all in perfect condition just aged considerably and occasionally covered in old cobwebs. This is a popular place for those who know about it as a means of hiding from Pringle or if someone needs a private place for some sort illegal potion brewing or such.

Sxith Floor One of the lesser used floors in Hogwarts, the sixth floor is used for Transfiguration primarily. There are a great deal of empty classrooms that can be used for all purposes and there are also the abandoned commons.

Seventh Floor The seventh floor is the topmost floor of Hogwarts Castle, with the exception of the towers, is quite a hike from the main entrance. The Divination Tower is reached from the seventh floor as well as the Room of Requirement ((which should not be used unless by the Marauders and their guests if any.)), Professor Flitwick's office, and the other towers in Hogwarts.
